You probably already know that women spend a great deal of time and thought on their appearance. They keep the manicurists,
hairdressers and boutiques throughout the city in business. However, oftentimes men are reluctant to take the same care with their appearance. Many otherwise intelligent men simply don’t realize
how much easier it can be to impress women with a few simple adjustments to their wardrobe and grooming habits. Consider these tips the next time you head out on a date:
Invest in a Great Pair of Jeans: Yes, designer jeans can be costly. However, they’re an item that you can wear to both casual (with a t-shirt) and chic events (with a blazer). It’s worth it to have one well-fitting pair that you know make you look awesome.
Consider Custom: Again, it’s something of an investment, but consider having a few shirts tailored especially for you. They’ll fit absolutely perfectly, and you’ll keep them forever. Ultimately, it’s better to spend a bit more on something that looks perfect than economize with mediocre pieces. The confidence boost alone will be worth it.
Don’t be Afraid to Accessorize: No, I’m not suggesting that you go out and buy a giant floppy hat a la Mystery, but try to find one interesting, distinctive piece to set yourself apart from the crowd. That might be a scarf, an interestingly patterned tie, or even some type of jewelry. It can be a wonderful conversation starter as it will give women something to comment upon.
Just Say No to Sneakers: Nothing can ruin a night out on the town faster than being denied entrance to the bar or club of your choice. Many places have a dress code and, while it tends to be fairly loose (you’re not going to be expected to show up in a suit and tie) it does tend to forbid sneakers. Go out and buy yourself a pair of grown up shoes.
Avoid White Socks: Unless you’re in the midst of a sporting event, or wearing shorts, pick a darker pair of socks. White socks tend to not match anything, and stains on them become immediately noticeable. If it’s summer, feel free to go sockless in a pair of loafers.
Take Care of the Hair You Have: A great haircut is a terrific asset. Be careful about using too much gel, though. And if your hair is beginning to thin? That’s nothing to be ashamed of. But please, don’t start doing that awkward thing where you try to comb it against the natural growth pattern. It’s always too obvious a disguise and looks far more absurd than a receding hairline ever does.
Make Sure Your Facial Hair is Under Control:Kissing someone with a chin full of stubble can be exceptionally unpleasant. Make sure that you’re either smoothly shaven before going out, or that your facial hair is neatly trimmed and groomed.
Careful with Cologne: It’s one of those cases where more is not always more. Rather than spraying it directly on yourself, try spraying it into the air in front of you, then walking through the mist. It will leave a scent that will tantalize and make her want to lean in closer.
